Using the Shopping Cart

To purchase items using our Shopping Cart, simply follow the steps listed below. If you are having difficulty adding items to your cart or your cart appears empty after you have added items to it, please consult the troubleshooting tips further down on this page.

  1. Find an item that interests you.
  2. Click the Add to Shopping Cart button next to any item
  3. Click the "Continue shopping" button if you want to buy more items or use your back button.
  4. When you've finished adding items to your Shopping Cart, if you are not already at the shopping cart, just click the View Cart icon found at the top of every page on our store.
  5. Click the "Checkout" button to proceed with your order. If you are a returning, enter your email and password to log in. If this is your first time, just follow the instructions for first time customers.
  6. Important- If this order is to be sent to a different address or is a gift (or both if buying multiple items), make sure you check the “Gift/Different Shipping Address?” box.

If you want to modify your order before you complete the checkout process, here's how:

  • Want to buy multiple quantities of an item in your Shopping Cart? Change the number in the Qty. box and click the Update button at the bottom of the cart.
  • Want to remove an item from your Shopping Cart? Click the Delete button that appears to the right of any item in your cart.
  • Prefer to wait until another day to buy some of the items in your Shopping Cart? Click on the item you wish to save for later. This will take you to that item in the bookstore. Just click on "Add to Wishlist" that appears at the bottom of the description.

Can't Add New Items to Your Cart?

If you aren't able to find the "Add to Shopping Cart" button on an item's product detail page, first make sure that the item is not listed as "out of stock indefinitely" If the item is listed as available, it's possible that your browser is not downloading the image of the Shopping Cart button. Click the "Help" link at the top of your browser window (above the browser commands) to learn how to turn automatic image loading back on. The button should then reappear

Placing Your First Order

Placing an order with Debt-Proof Living is easy. There's no need to create an account first. You will have done that once you've placed your first order online. (We can also accept orders by phone - 800-550-3502 or 562-630-6474.)

Finding Items

First you will need to browse or search for the items you would like to order. A search box is located at the top on every page of our store. You can find an advanced search button on the bottom menu of each page. When you find an item that interests you, click the title or name of the item to see its product detail page. Here you will find more information about that particular item.

Adding Items to Your Shopping Cart

If you want to order an item, click the "Add to Shopping Cart" button on the item's catalog page or the product detail page. Once you've added an item to your Shopping Cart, use your browsers back button or the "Continue shopping" button to keep searching or browsing until your cart contains all of the items you want to order. You can access the contents of your Shopping Cart at any time by clicking the Shopping Cart icon at the top of every page of the bookstore.

Proceed to Checkout

Take a moment to review all of the items you've placed in your Shopping Cart. If you decide that you don't want to purchase a particular item, click the "delete" button next to the item. When you're ready to place your order for everything in the "Shopping Cart Items--To Buy Now" section of your cart, click the "Checkout" button. You will be taken to the first page of the order form.

Important- If this order is to be sent to a different address or is a gift (or both if buying multiple items); make sure you check the “Gift/Different Shipping Address?” box.

New Customer

If you have never shopped with us before or do not have a current on line subscription, follow the link where it says, “If it's your first time in this store click here...”, and just fill in your information.

Returning Customer

If you are not already logged in, it will ask you for your email address and password.

If this order is not a gift or not to a different shipping address

If you are purchasing something for yourself to go to the address you have entered as your primary address, the process is straightforward.

When you click on the checkout button you will be taken to the shipping page where you can choose a shipping option (see shipping). Click on continue and you arrive at a recap page which shows all items ordered, shipping charges and tax, if any. If everything is satisfactory, click on “continue”. The next page is where you will enter your credit card information.

That’s all there is to it.

Select a Shipping Method

Consider how quickly you would like to receive your order and select a shipping method. Keep in mind that our office is open during business hours (9 -5) and orders are only processed during business hours on weekdays. If your order is placed in the evening or on the weekend allow time for the processing to take place the first business day following the placement of the order. At this time we only ship by US Post office. Debt-Proof Living provides the following guidelines for shipping. Please note that time in transit is established by the United States Postal Service. Priority mail is usually delivered within 2 to 3 business days after the order has been processed.

Express mail is usually delivered overnight if order is placed prior to 12:00 pm Pacific Time, Monday through Friday. Orders placed on weekends or after 12:00 pm Pacific Time will usually be delivered on the 2nd day after the order is processed.

Media mail is usually delivered in 5 to 7 business days after it is processed.

The shipping charge for your order will be displayed on the order summary page just before you submit your order.

If this order is a gift or to a different shipping address

If you have chosen to send your item(s) to a different shipping address or as a gift (or both), this is where you’ll enter that information. (Remember, in order to send a gift or to a different address you must put a check in the “Gift/Different Shipping Address?” box on the shopping cart page. Click your back button if you forgot).

Click on the “Enter a New Address” button to make a new entry. This can be an individual you want to send a gift to or a different shipping address for yourself. Remember, any names in your address book can be used to send a gift or just as a different shipping address.

If you are sending everything to one address as a gift, check the “This is a gift” box and click on the “send to this address” button for the individual you wish to send to. This will take you to the shipping page where you can choose a shipping method. At this time we offer priority mail or express mail. (We hope to add more options in the future.)

If you are sending to multiple gift recipients or addresses, click on the “send to multiple addresses” in the upper right corner. The next page will allow you great flexibility in choosing who gets what and where it all goes.

The first thing you notice is a pull down box where every thing you have added to your cart is shown. Select the first item. In the next pull down box you will select the quantity of the item to send (for example, if you are purchasing 4 subscriptions to go to different individuals, you would select quantity 1 at this point).

In the next box you select the individual it is to go to and click the “add “button”. When you select an individual, this creates a shipping group. If you have purchased anything else that will go to that individual, you would assign that product to that shipping group. This helps minimize shipping charges.

If you want any of the shipping groups to be sent as a gift, just click the “gift Group” button above the specific shipping group. When the gift group button is selected, a date box appears that allows you to choose a date in the future if you so desire., otherwise it will be sent immediately. If you wish to add a gift message, you can do so on the next screen.

Anything not assigned to a shipping group is sent to your address.

When you click “continue” a verification box appears that summarizes your choices. If you wish to correct anything, just click cancel and make the appropriate changes. Click OK.

You’re now at the shipping page where you can choose what shipping option you want for each individual shipping group as well as write any messages for any gifts you have chosen. Click continue.

You are now at the final recap page which shows everything you have purchased, where it’s going and to whom, shipping options chosen, handling fees, any tax if applicable and then a grand total amount. Click on continue, enter your credit card, wait for approval, and you are done.
